We’ve been chatting to Four Seasons Hydra’s General Manager, Grigoris Rampias.

After 5 minutes, we were daydreaming about being on a Greek beach and having a local beer at the hotel’s taverna. Check out his top tips for Hydra and why he loves the hotel that he calls home. 

(Tom): What is it that your guests love the most about staying at Four Seasons Hydra?

(Grigoris): Except for the fact that our hotel is the only one with a beach in Hydra, what we offer is authenticity. Authenticity is the common factor behind our services, our food and the vibe of the venue and our clients cherish that.

The location is also another thing that adds to the whole experience; truly a little piece of heaven and really off the beaten track.

How have the last few months been and what are you doing to ensure the hotel is ‘covid-safe’?

August was quite busy but in general, it was an odd summer. Fewer visitors came to Hydra compared to last year but of course, we cannot complain considering the global situation.

Here in Four Seasons Hydra, we follow the health and safety protocols of the Greek government but also try our best every day to ensure that everyone feels and is safe. It has been a challenge but I was glad to see how well the staff and the clientele have adapted to the new normal.

Can you briefly describe Hydra to us and our readers?

Bohemian, chic, historic, laid back, inclusive and exclusive at the same time. Being fully pedestrianised, there is a certain vibe that you can’t find anywhere else.

What are the experiences your guests like to do whilst they are staying with you?

Our beach and our restaurant by the sea are the places where the guests like to spend most of the day. Our hotel also offers complimentary shuttle boat service to its house guests to/from the main town so they don’t miss out on the action there.

Do you have any favourite restaurants or bars to recommend?

I highly recommend Sunset Restaurant in the main town; one of the top restaurants with a view worldwide. As for bars, 1821 is the best bar of Hydra, truly top quality drinks and ambience.
