Trevose Harbour House

Trevose Harbour House steers away from nautical paraphernalia, instead opting for a designer Delftware palette of royal blue and white, echoing the surf and sky colours of St Ives Bay, which can be seen from most windows in this elegant white townhouse. Mid-century Ercol furnishings, work by St Ives’ artists and Fifties Liberty of London-style prints create a classically British beach experience with nary a knotted hanky in sight.

Trevose Harbour House faces St Ives Bay, nestled among art galleries and cafes, just a few footfalls from four beaches and within walking distance of the Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden.

Warren Superior - Room 1

A 20 sq m ground-floor room decorated in the hotel’s signature blue and white colour scheme. The king-size Hypnos bed has an eye-catching headboard made from a vintage Moroccan door, decorated with blue and white fabric and local art hangs on the walls. There’s an Ercol desk by the bed, an armchair covered in bold Designers’ Guild fabric and a window nook overlooking the Warren, a cobbled alleyway leading to St Ives Bay. There’s also an ensuite with a walk-in shower and a selection of Neal’s Yard Remedies products. Harbour View Superior - Room 4

A cosy 16sq m room, which despite being one of the hotel’s smallest, has plenty of character, with a glass-block feature wall and several of Melanie Uys’ modern folk-art prints on the walls. The king-size bed is covered with Jacquard blankets, and Egyptian cotton linens, and is turned towards the harbour and bay-facing window, ensuring plenty of natural light. The Terrace Deluxe is 21sq m and overlooks the hotel’s terrace (with limited views of the harbour). This 60sq m studio garden apartment is set directly below Sands Studio, a seashell’s throw from Porthgwidden Beach. Mid-century-mod in design, the studio has an open-plan living room with a fully-equipped kitchen, a dining area and a conservatory with direct access to a private garden with a table for two. The bedroom has a king-size bed, direct access to the garden through double glass doors, and an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower and organic Pure Nuff Stuff bath products. The apartment’s decor pays homage to retro design with parquet wooden flooring, a mix of mid-century Scandinavian furniture and contemporary designer details. The work of local artists hangs on the whitewashed brick walls of the bedroom, which has a king-size bed and ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower and Pure Nuff Stuff bath products. Large sliding windows open onto a private balcony that looks over the garden, giving sweeping views of St. Ives Bay. The kitchen – a bespoke creation by David Restorick – comes fully equipped.
