Su Gologone

Tucked in from the Sardinian coastline, Su Gologone hotel is a creative enclave beneath the spiky Supramonte mountaintops. An homage to local crafts, the hotel showcases the bright colours and traditional textiles of the Italian island in whitewashed rooms that are a canvas for regional artists. Schedule art classes with an expert or retreat to the gardens, where staff can provide a canvas, should inspiration strike. The hotel also embraces the flavour of the island, serving Sardinian wine and dishes prepared by the family matriarch and served on a terrace overlooking the rugged natural landscape.

De Luxe Emotion

Offering a stylish take on traditional Sardinian style, this room (which starts at 20sq m in size) has splashes of lime green, burnt orange and sunshine yellow, with wood beams and unique artworks, plus furnishings made in the hotel’s own art shop. This 25 to 30sq m suite pays homage to Sardinia’s great 20th-century artists, such as Federico Melis, Giuseppe Biasi and Edina Altara. Alongside designer statement pieces, period furnishings and some made onsite, there’s embroidery by the women of Oliena and a selection of art books. There’s a double bed and a separate living room, and an ensuite bathroom with a shower and tub. There’s a terrace too, with a view of the mountains or garden, some of which have a circular bath tub. These expansive 40sq m suites open onto a terrace with mountain or garden views and a hot tub. Some have a double bed and a separate living room furnished with Sardinian pieces made in the hotel’s workshop. Suite dell’Arte

Enjoy views of the garden, the mountains or the valley from your private terrace, which leads off from this colourfully styled 40 to 55sq m suite. Furnishings include designer pieces, some made on site and antiques, plus there’s colourful embroidery from Oliena. Wood beams, painted shutters, the odd fireplace and decorative tiling also adds character. The terrace has a circular bath tub, and within there’s a living room and a bedroom with a soft queen-size bed (which can be twinned on request). The bathroom has a hydromassage shower (some have a bath tub too). There’s an LED TV, Nespresso machine, kettle, minibar, bathrobes and slippers, and air-conditioning, and up to four guests (two adults and two kids) can stay here.

Retreat to the Sardinian country in this locally inspired 45sq m suite, crafted using fabrics native to the island’s shepherding traditions. With a built-in double bed, juniper-wood ceiling beams, and furniture carved by local woodworkers, the suite channels the island’s bucolic heritage. Each has a flatscreen TV, desk, minibar and Nespresso coffee-maker. The ensuite bathroom has a shower and soaking tub. The suite opens out to a garden with a hot tub and an installation by renowned local artist Liliana Cano.

Art Studio Suite

Originally the art studio and atelier of owner Giovanna, this beautiful 60sq m suite is ideal for inspiration and privacy. Hidden away with its own private rose garden, the colourful space is equipped with brushes, canvas, coloured pencils and paper and an easel, should guests want to pursue personal art projects. The separate bedroom has a double bed, as well as a large flatscreen TV, CD player, iPad and WiFi. There is a Nespresso coffee-maker, an ironing kit and a beach bag, containing sunscreen, towels and a straw hat. The ensuite bathroom has a separate tub and shower. The private garden holds an open-air living room and a tub ideal for alfresco evening soaks. There is a veranda with a table and chairs overlooking the courtyard and garden, as well as the countryside. This suite has 24-hour butler service.
