Poseidonion Grand Hotel

Occupying a prime seafront position since 1914, the Poseidonion Grand Hotel delivers a shot of Continental glamour in sun-soaked Spetses, coastal playground of the Athenian A-list. Ionic columns add a Hellenic touch to its façade, but step into the lobby and you’ll find a tribute to turn-of-the century grandeur. Decorative archways, potted palms and floors decked with trompe l'oeil tiles speak to the Golden Age aristocrats who once made this their summer home. These 23sq m double rooms overlook the main pool and garden, surrounded by palm trees and decorated in peony-pink and metallic-mint, with beds boasting button-back sage-green headboards. Deluxe Room Side Sea View (Historic Wing / New Wing)

Decorated in a modern palette of dove-grey and cream with hardwood floors these 25sq m double rooms have a queen-size bed and a ‘perfect pillow’ menu. Private balconies with wrought-iron trellises overlook the picturesque port of Dapia. Marble bathrooms include rainshowers and luxury Etro bath products. Located in the new building, these 35sq m rooms look out to the Mediterranean lavender garden and have either a shared garden terrace or private balcony. The bedroom is open plan with a king-size bed; there’s also a sitting area with a cream-coloured sofa bed (that sleeps one extra guest, at an added cost) and a glass-top coffee table. Guests in these rooms get a desk/workspace, minibar, flatscreen TV and wired internet access.

Deluxe Room Sea View

Dove grey and taupe with pewter lamps and hardwood floors, the spacious 25sq m rooms have electric-blue shutters to match the views of the Argo-Saronic Gulf, either from the private trellised balconies or large windows. These 32sq m rooms are extremely light, thanks to the Belle Epoque architectural style, and are tastefully furnished in dove-grey and white with draped curtains and pewter lamps. The Pine Estate

Perched on the island's edge (10 minutes from the main hotel), this five-bedroom villa sleeps 12, boasts panoramic sea views and has six acres of secluded grounds lined with olive groves and housing a private swimming pool, sunloungers, alfresco dining spaces and a yoga terrace with a barbecue. Inside, pastel yellow hues are paired traditional designs throughout. On the garden level, you'll find the master bedroom with a double bed and ensuite bathroom, a twin bedroom with a single bed (converted to a double, on request) with a bathroom across the hall, a living room, home office, lounge with a fireplace and direct access to the garden's verandah, and a fully equipped kitchen. On the pool level, there are three bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, two have twin beds and the third has a double bed. Set a little further back from the main villa, there's a small guest house that has an extra twin bedroom and bathroom. All the bedrooms have traditional French doors that lead to their own terraces. The villa is also equipped with free WiFi, TVs, air-conditioning, mosquito nets and Jo Malone amenities. Complimentary transfers are included in the rates, as well as a daily breakfast and access to the main hotel's gym. On request, an in-house chef and babysitter can be arranged.

There are three individually designed Superior Suites have partial views of the sea or gardens, and each has a separate living with a sofa bed that sleeps one extra guest (at an added cost) and dining area with a CD player, radio, DVD player and flatscreen TV. Housed inside Poseidonion’s distinctive domed roof is the 75sq m La Cupola Suite, built on two levels. The open plan sitting area/bedroom lies beneath the mezzanine loft, which features a glass ceiling from which guests can see the stars. A 90sq m private roof-terrace has views across Spetses town. Marbled bathrooms have free-standing bath tubs with Etro toiletries and luxury vanity packs. Guests in these rooms get a desk/workspace, minibar, flatscreen TV and wired internet access.

This 60sq m one-bedroom suite has a private balcony with uninterrupted views of the Argo-Saronic Gulf. This modern suite is decorated in neutral tones and a separate living room with two cream-coloured sofas (including a sofa bed that can sleep one additional guest) and a dining table; in the bedroom, there’s a king-size bed (or twins, on request).
