L'Hôtel Marrakech

L’Hôtel Marrakech by Jasper Conran is a love letter of a stay written in particularly elegant script: the Brit designer has added pure white four-posters in each of the – just five – suites; a pair of flower-draped roof terraces; and orange-blossom and jasmine-perfumed gardens in the courtyard. There’s no noise from the Medina to stir you from your slumbers, the lap pool is sheltered by lush palms and if you’re in an upper-floor suite, the terrace has pull-across curtains for a little alone time: Mr Conran, we're a little smitten.

L’Hôtel lies in a secluded quarter of the Medina, north west of Jemaa El-Fna and the souk. Staff greet you at the Ben Youssef Mosque and lead you through a maze of quiet side streets to the riad’s decorative doors.

Marquetry pieces inlaid with mother-of-pearl furnish this suite (41sq m) alongside art and antiques from Jasper Conran’s personal collection. There’s a king-size four-poster bed hung with white-voile curtains and a walk-through wardrobe leads to a tadelakt bathroom with a combined bath tub and shower. All suites have free WiFi, handmade Egyptian-cotton linens, air-conditioning, free bowls of seasonal fruit and bottled water and Le Sens de Marrakech bath products. On request, this suite interconnects with the Fez suite.

Asilah

This suite (43sq m) is spread out over the first floor. There’s a sitting room with an open fireplace, a tadelakt bathroom with a large shower and a bedroom with a dreamy, white-veiled four-poster bed and an antique desk (from Conran’s own collection, of course…); large windows and a skylight let in the sunshine throughout. Each suite has free WiFi, antique and designer statement furnishings, handmade Egyptian-cotton linens, air-conditioning, free bowls of seasonal fruit and bottled water and Le Sens de Marrakech bath products.

Zagora

Conran has furnished this romantic suite (50sq m) in antiques and more modern pieces from his collection, leaving the original dark-wood detailing intact. There’s a furnished, ground-floor private terrace, which can be screened off with voile curtains; indoors, the four-poster bed is also swathed in white voile, and a walk-through wardrobe leads to a tadelakt bathroom with a combined bath tub and shower.

Fez

With snow-white walls and large windows, this 50sq m suite is light and bright and has a large, elegantly decorated terrace, with a table for alfresco dining and voile curtains for a smidge more privacy. The open-plan bedroom and living room have designer pieces and antiques (all from Conran’s personal collection): purple-velvet seating, marquetry tables and a large four-poster bed swathed in white net. Dark-wood doorways and wardrobes are an elegant touch, and the tadelakt bathroom has a large walk-in shower. All suites have free WiFi, handmade Egyptian-cotton linens, air-conditioning, free bowls of seasonal fruit and bottled water and Le Sens de Marrakech bath products. On request, this interconnects with the Tangier Suite.

Casablanca

The riad’s largest suite (67sq m) has a sizeable private terrace where guests can dine alfresco – voile curtains can be pulled across for more privacy. Indoors, there’s a large white four-poster bed, a sitting area and a dining space for two. The suite has a lavish zouac ceiling and is furnished with antiques and pieces from Conran’s collection: paintings, Kilim rugs and carved and marquetry pieces. Through a walk-in wardrobe, there’s a tadelakt bathroom with a combined bath tub and shower and gilded fittings. All suites have free WiFi, handmade Egyptian-cotton linens, air-conditioning, free bowls of seasonal fruit and bottled water and Le Sens de Marrakech bath products.
