Le Quattro Dame

Live like a local – albeit one with very good taste – at Le Quattro Dame, whose city-central, apartment-style sleeping-quarters put the Eternal City at your fingertips. There’s no restaurant or bar, but each room has a well-considered kitchenette, meaning you can sneak back deli-plucked deliciousness and enjoy whatever you’ve chosen in the comfort of your own personal palazzo. The building has a distinguished history, but the interiors are styled with plenty of modern, designer flourishes. The best bits of all are outside: the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and the Trastevere district, for example, just a few minutes’ walk away.

Le Quattro Dame enjoys a prime central perch between Piazza Venezia and Torre di Largo Argentina, in a magnificent historical building on Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, one of the city’s arterial streets.

These 27-34sq m rooms facing Piazza del Gesù and Corso Vittorio are graced with high ceilings and large windows with sweeping views of the city. Designer flourishes include Viabizzuno and Kartell lighting, Meridiani and Flou beds, Dedar and Sacho curtains and wooden flooring throughout. The sleek modern bathrooms boast walk-in showers, resin flooring and steel accessories from Agape and Gessi. Each room strikes a balance between the building’s classical features and modern interior design; thematic colours are the cue for the rooms’ names. This 40sq m junior suite called Sand has a modern style that contrasts dramatically with its historic setting. Sand surveys Piazza del Gesu, with views of the Vittoriano and Gianicolo, plus a balcony that surveys the Eternal City. The junior suite is also graced with plenty of designer flourishes, including Viabizzuno and Kartell lighting, a Flou bed, Dedar and Sacho curtains and wooden flooring throughout. Junior Suite Deluxe

This 35sq m suite called White has a star feature: a stunning fresco that has been lovingly restored to its former glory. Modern white interiors provide a crisp, clean backdrop for this fresco; two enormous wooden frames mounted in mid-air act are an additional cue to gawp at this feature. This suite has a separate living area with a Campeggi sofa bed, a TV and a kitchenette with a Nespresso coffee machine, electric kettle, well-stocked fridge and snacks.

This split-level 56sq m suite is designed to act as your own private Roman apartment (the owner often uses it when he’s in town). Nicknamed the Flat, it’s been lovingly refurbished with plenty of attention to detail. Highlights include a contemporary kitchen with a proper sitting area; a living area with a sofa bed and a bathroom on the first level; a bedroom with a second bathroom and walk-in wardrobe on the second level. The Flat faces the internal courtyard and is extremely cosy and comfortable.
