Ellerman House

A bastion of culture and elegance in Bantry Bay, Ellerman House is an art-filled escape in an Edwardian mansion. Each of the 13 rooms is spacious and bright, but the hotel offers plenty to explore outside the room. The estate pays tribute to South African culture, with two centuries of local art spread throughout the house, including in a dedicated gallery. Outside, stroll the terraced gardens or grab chairs by the ocean-facing pool. Even the restaurant is a tribute to the country, with elevated regional specialties best paired with local wines from the 7,500-bottle collection.

Ellerman House Villa One

Tucked away for extra privacy and ideal for families, this 696sq m modern villa can be booked with three or four bedrooms. The space includes a formal lounge, TV room, dining room and study, along with a large deck and private infinity pool. Each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. The three upstairs bedrooms, which can be made up with twins or king-sized beds, also have private terraces; the study can be made up as a fourth bedroom (ideal for two young children, one older child or a nanny). Each ensuite bathroom has heated floors, an infinity mirror, separate tub and rainfall shower; the master bathroom has sea views with glass windows to create the illusion of showering in the ocean. Each bedroom has an open-plan dressing room and ensuite bathroom, with glass walls to maximise ocean views. Two bedrooms come with a double bed; one can be made up with twins, by request. Each of the three bathrooms has a separate tub and extra-large shower, as well as heated floors; two bathrooms have partial ocean views. The villa has air-conditioning, an alarm clock and blackout curtains. The kitchen has a hob, microwave, dishwasher and grill. The villa sleeps a maximum of six adults; babies and children under 14 aren't allowed.
