Como Castello del Nero

At Castello del Nero hotel in Tuscany, you’ll walk around wide-eyed: this 12th-century castle has mediaeval frescoes, marble-and-mosaic bathrooms and a very tempting spa. Dine on wild boar ragù or lobster ravioli in the elegant restaurant, then walk it all off in the hotel’s rolling 740 acres of vinyards, olive groves, vineyards, lakes, preened Italian gardens and wild Tuscan woods. Each of these 25–38sq m rooms has been decorated in typical Tuscan style – with oak-beamed ceilings, cream walls and country florals – and all have views of the courtyard or garden. There’s a queen-size bed or twin beds on request, and an ensuite bathroom with a separate bath tub and shower. Tavarnelle Room

These typically Tuscan 36–50sq m rooms have sunshine-yellow walls, ceilings with exposed wooden beams and antique pencil-post beds, alongside panoramic views of rolling countryside. There’s either a queen-size bed or twin beds on request and an ensuite bathroom with a separate shower and bath tub.
