Single Room

These rooms are in either the main hotel or the mews, and have views of the manicured inner courtyard or the woodlands. Each 18sq m room has a small double bed an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower. These rooms are for solo Smiths only; it is not possible to add a baby cot or extra bed. Each also has free WiFi, a TV, tea and Nespresso coffee machine, free bottled water and Espa bath products.

Classic

Located in the main hotel, these rooms sport minor imperfections such as small bathrooms. Each has a queen-size bed (king-size beds or twins in some), views of the courtyard or the woodlands (some may have restricted views), and an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower. These 26sq m rooms are suitable for short stays; two of the ground floor rooms and one of the first-floor rooms is wheelchair accessible. No extra bed or cot is possible in these rooms. Each also has free WiFi, a TV, tea and Nespresso coffee machine, free bottled water and Espa bath products.

Castle

The Castle rooms have generous bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms with showers, plus armchairs, desks and plenty of storage. They’re found in the main building, with uninterrupted views of the courtyard and the woodlands beyond. Each also has free WiFi, a TV, tea and Nespresso coffee machine, free bottled water and Espa bath products. A baby cot or an extra bed for children under 15 can be added for £20 a child, each night on request.

Valley

These rooms have unrestricted views over glorious Dartmoor countryside through huge windows. There's a double bed, a handsome ensuite bathroom with a shower and a seating area for private work or dining. Antique furniture is stepped up a notch in these rooms too, so they have countryside glamour by the bucket-load; they comfortably sleep two adults with enough room for one child under 15 in an extra bed or a baby cot (£20 a night), on request. Each also has free WiFi, a TV, tea and Nespresso coffee machine, free bottled water and Espa bath products.

Mews Room

Decorated in a more relaxed style than the rooms in the main building, these 26sq m rooms are on the second floor of the mews building (and only accessible by stairs) and look out over the courtyard or the woodlands. Each has a king-size or queen-size bed (twins on request) and an ensuite bathroom with a shower over the bath tub. No extra bed or cot is possible in these rooms. Junior State Room

Some of these large family rooms are open-plan and others are split into two separate rooms; all have living spaces with double beds, ensuite bathrooms with showers, and living areas which can accommodate two small children on a sofa bed. Views are of either the courtyard and woodland or the Dartmoor Valley. These rooms have one double sofa bed to sleep up to two children under 15 for £20 a child, each night, or two cots (£20 a child, each night) can be added on request. With uninterrupted valley views, the rooms are the stately spaces you would expect of a castle; each has a king-size bed, an ensuite bathroom with a roll-top bath tub and separate shower, and a large living space. Grand State Room

These make rather grand family rooms, but there are only four of them, and they’re all arranged slightly differently. Two are open-plan, one has a private balcony, but all have generous proportions and views right across to Dartmoor. One of them, a one-bedroom suite, has views over the first tee. There are shower rooms, bathrooms with roll-top baths, and living spaces in which to host family and friends. These rooms have one double sofa bed to sleep up to two children under 15 (£20 a child, each night), or two cots (£20 a child, each night) can be added on request. Each also has free WiFi, a TV, tea and Nespresso coffee machine, free bottled water and Espa bath products.

Lodge

There are 22 lodges within the castle’s grounds and each one contains three double ensuite bedrooms arranged over three floors. Fashioned from local granite and vaulted with English oak, they’re intentionally shaded by woodland so that they feel private (though they have their own outdoor spaces too). The oak kitchen is fitted with a Belfast sink, microwave, oven, cooker, fridge-freezer and dishwasher; there’s a dining table, a utility room with a washer-dryer, and an enormous living room with a TV, DVD player and gas fireplace. All facilities and housekeeping services are available, as well as a full ‘lodge service’ menu. Maximum capacity is eight, including a baby cot and an extra bed (both £20 per night).
