Borgo Pignano Maisonnette Il Pozzo

Down by the estate’s erstwhile water well, the Maisonette Il Pozzo at the luxurious Borgo Pignano hotel offers a secluded space from which to admire the grassy curves and horizon-set hilltop fortresses of this rural Tuscan region. There are three floors spanning, from top to bottom, a master bedroom; a kids’ bedroom with three single beds; and a living area with beamed ceilings, cream sofas and alcove walls. There’s a leafy terrace with a dining table for outdoor meals if you can be bothered to use your kitchen; if not, the creative chef is putting on a decent (and locally sourced) alternative at the Belvedere restaurant. 

  

Borgo Pignano comes with its own patch of Tuscan paradise: 350 acres of bucolic beauty, a 20-minute drive from the town of Volterra.

Maisonnette Il Pozzo

Located in front of the hamlet’s old well, this charming and spacious (95sq m) three-storeyed maisonette boasts a large, comfortable living and dining room with a fully-equipped kitchen, a wood-burning stove and a guest bathroom on the ground floor. Il Pozzo has a twin bedroom with an ensuite bathroom on the second floor and a master bedroom with a king-size bed and ensuite bathroom on the third level. The bathrooms’ walls are finished with Venetian stucco. Guests at Il Pozzo can enjoy a shared al fresco lounge and dining area with views of the fortress hilltop town, Casole d’Elsa. The maisonette has a mini fridge, desk, blackout curtain, decorative fireplace, air-conditioning and a kitchenette with an oven, hob, dishwasher, sink, kettle and coffee machine. Fresh flowers, petits fours, organic berries and free bottled water are left in the maisonette on arrival. An extra bed can be added to this room for a charge.
