Borgo Pignano Maisonnette Il Granaio

In an expansive estate of olive groves and orchards, meadows, lakes and woodland, the Maisonette Il Granaio at the Borgo Pignano hotel is a 17th-century farmhouse within the old hamlet walls. There’s a living space with a dining room and kitchen (which may be left to gather dust, given the locally sourced output over at the Belvedere restaurant), a terrace looking out over the gorgeously green hills and the mediaeval town of Volterra in the distance, and two ensuite bedrooms. The decor is traditionally Tuscan: heavy wooden furniture, exposed beams, sky-blue shutters and terracotta tiles.

Borgo Pignano comes with its own patch of Tuscan paradise: 350 acres of bucolic beauty, a 20-minute drive from the town of Volterra.

Maisonnette Il Granaio

Just steps away from the main villa, this elegant 80sq m maisonette has a comfortable living and dining room with kitchen facilities, a large master bedroom with a king-size bed and a second bedroom with twins. Both bedrooms have an ensuite bathroom with a bath tub and an over-bath shower. The private terrace sweeping countryside views and overlooks the medieval town of Volterra. The master bedroom has a loft with a Japanese tatami and futon. The maisonette has a mini fridge, desk, blackout curtain, decorative fireplace, air-conditioning and a kitchenette with an oven, hob, dishwasher, sink, kettle and coffee machine. Fresh flowers, petits fours, organic berries and free bottled water are left in the maisonette pre-arrival. An extra bed can be added to this room for a charge.
